The grade point average isn't the deal. It helps, but the average enrollee
at UGA is somewhere around a 3.7, which means some are lower, some are higher. The average ACT is around a 26 I think. Which again means that some are higher and some are lower.
You have to show UGA that you are the total package with grades, strenuous curriculum, meaning you have taken the hardest courses avail at your school (AP, etc), participated in school activities like clubs, sports, government.... and been active in community service. The service work component is very important and gets lost in the advisement process on the high school level. The importance of being well rounded is what the school is looking for. .
Each area has a weight and it must be satisfied.
If you are late enrolling, you don't get accepted. If your essays are not coherent, you don't get accepted.
The biggest thing though, is the curriculum. If the school offers 10 AP courses, you need to take all 10. If your school has a poor history of academic excellence, it will be hard unless the student has absolutely excelled beyond the norm.
