Seems clear the PAC-12 is going away. Assuming the 2 Arizona schools head to the Big 12 along with Utah, they’d be at 16 schools. And 16 seems to the magic number. Anything bigger seems less like a conference and more like a captive.
The SEC is at 16 already, and the Big10 seems likely to bust things open and add Wash., Oregon, Cal and Stanford, bringing them to 20. Now here me out.
The ACC currently has 14. What if some arrangement was made, spearheaded by the major TV partners, that had Maryland and Rutgers move to the ACC, giving them 16 as well.
Sorry to Wash St and Oregon St! I believe Stew Mandel suggested they go to the MWC and that seems about right.
Then we do what must be done (again, stolen from Mandell)….get the Big 12 and Big10 to rebrand themselves into something sensical, damnit!!
Thoughts?
