ND. LA is totally

Absolutely tragic. I heard a report where insurers had refused to write fire policies and 70% of the homeowners have no insurance.
My understanding is it wasn't an outright refusal, it was that they weren't allowed to raise rates, and then when they couldn't raise rates to compensate for the risk, they declined to write coverage. Happy to be corrected if that's wrong.

My nieces and nephews are living out there. And I can’t get in touch with them. I’m praying for them and hope they are safe.
What part of town?

I’ve lived in LA for 25 years. Seen some fires. But not like this. Very, very scary. And now Runyon Canyon is burning, Hollywood under evacuation orders.

My family and I are safe, five miles from the first fire in Pacific Palisades. But for how long?

My wife’s boss lives in the Palisades. His house is probably gone but he has no way of knowing. My daughter goes to school across town in Pasadena, and at least two of her classmates lost their homes.

It’s bad. It’s real bad. Pray for us, y’all! I know everyone likes to make fun of LA but it’s a beautiful place with amazing people. And we’re all scared.

Know I guy that's from here (Huge UGA fan) and lives Palisades. Posted on Twitter yesterday a pic of them leaving as smoke cloud is over their house. Today he posted a video of what's left of his neighborhood. Nothing. He texted me that they would rebuild.

I live right by pacific palisades in Santa Monica & we’ve evacuated but pacific palisades is the most beautiful/special area of LA. Was in shock watching it burn yesterday. You expect the houses high up in canyons in palisades to be vulnerable but no one ever thought it would come down to the more densely populated village area. The overgrowth of vegetation from all the rain 2 years ago paired with the dryness & 100 mph winds just created the perfect storm.

Just devastating. Very sorry for your friend.

ABC has live coverage showing helicopters dropping water. They are doing a good job covering it live. Hollywood really looks like it won't make it thru the night

It's an awful situation. He posted this as they where evacuating. Hard to believe those videos are from the same neighborhood.

Looks like a war zone. How awful.

10K acre blow torch with 100 mph winds. It's a horrible chain of events.
