That work for you on a regular basis possibly count as employees in this bill. Worker’s compensation laws seem to classify them as employees.

An employee gets a W-2. The stimulus bill, however, does provide unemployment benefits for the self-employed. Not sure how you prove income, though, unless it will be based on your tax return.

A subcontractor is a worker who is not your employee. You give a Form 1099 to a subcontractor showing the amounts you paid him. The subcontractor is responsible for keeping his or her own records and paying his or her own income and self-employment taxes.
