We share a probably 15' wide grass way with our neighbor that goes by our main water spigot/hose and to the gate and fence to our backyard.

There are 30 or more cicada killers that have taken up shop there, and while they almost never sting, they get all up in your face when you get near, which we obviously have to do to use our hose.

So, we scheduled an exterminator to come out and get rid of them, but since they'd have to spray or whatever on our neighbor's side, we decided to do the courteous thing and ask if that'd be ok.

He replied, graciously, that because they've been there for a few years and were generally harmless, he'd prefer we didn't.

We're going to be respectful of that, but would you just do it anyway? I didn't take him for a mother earth tree hugger type, so it caught me off guard, and also they don't bother him and his family like they bother us given the orientation of his house.
