Stepson lived in Japan for nine years; met and married a sweetheart from Nagoya before they moved here to Columbia, MO. Three days ago they had two daughters and a son inbound. Kid finished teaching school Thursday, boarded a plane for Japan (where both of the other kids were born), but got bumped from his flight in the early hours Friday while changing planes in Dallas.
So while he was trying his best to reroute yesterday morning - and locate his baggage, which had flown on without him - his in-laws messaged him from Japan that wife was in labor. And before he could get another flight received another message that baby arrived before he could launch. 40 minutes of labor and *BAM!*..... newborn!
American Airlines was none too helpful getting him to SushiLand, and even though he missed the birth, arrived late last night in Tokyo. Bullet train this morning and he'll be holding new son in a few hours. Healthy baby; healthy mom. Older sisters (2yo and 4yo) are fascinated by the little brother. We'll see how they feel when he starts getting into their toys in a year or so. Heheh
