-I said on Sunday night that this was our most winnable midweek game of the year. Savannah State doesn't have a lot, but I think it's important in games like that to end it early. Don't give them any reason to believe... The 4th inning did that for us tonight.... This was a very comfortable, relaxed win... Just what the doctor ordered.

-I don't really understand why Savannah State agrees to come up here to play us for one game. That's an awfully long bus ride. I heard that they didn't get to the park today until 5:00p... It'll probably be close to 2:00a when they get home tonight and I understand that they play again tomorrow at home.

-I thought Drew Moody's second inning was a lot better than his 1st. His stuff looked a lot better.... It dawned on me driving over today that this was the going to be the first time I'd seen him this season. I doubt he's 100% right now, but I really hope that he can work his up in the bullpen and turn into a guy for us. He certainly has that ability.

-Not sure that I've seen a game where two different players were a hit shy of the cycle. LJ Talley's home run was absolutely crushed.... I didn't know he had that kind of power... The way Cam Shepherd was seeing it tonight, I really thought he had a great shot to hit that last one out, also.

-On that note, how about Mitchell Webb? Guy hasn't had a live AB probably since Friday night at LSU and came up with 4 hits. Really nice work. They gave Mitchell and Talley a chance tonight, and both guys really responded.

-Kinda wish we'd let James Williams finish his inning. Walks were obviously not going to be tolerated tonight, but I thought it would have been good for the young guy to close out the frame with some guys on base.

-Likewise, I wasn't real sure why they got Trevor Tinder when they did in the 9th. He only threw 7 pitches... I have to think it's tough to evaluate a guy based on that.

-The would-be last out of the game? Not sure what happened there. It seemed like Curry didn't know that he had to throw to 1st (normally he wouldn't have to, if there is a runner there).... I know Stricklin wasn't too happy about it in the dugout. It made me think back to that 2012 Florida game on Friday night when we lost the game on a walk-off strikeout, when our catcher overthrew 1st base on what should have been the last out of the inning. I thought Curry did a very nice job behind the plate, though. No balls to the screen, and that was great to see.

-Like I say, this was exactly what we needed tonight.... Hopefully we can take some of those good feelings up to Knoxville this weekend. I think the reality is that the loser of this series is, for all intents and purposes, eliminated from making the SECT. Too early to say that? Maybe. But it's going to be very hard for the losing team to overcome that deficit, especially with the tiebreaker going to the other guy. But we'll worry about that this weekend. For now, I really enjoyed what I saw tonight.
