While Kirby’s management of NIL on the recruiting trail remains a work-in-progress, I truly believe that an elite program like ours must stay disciplined with attracting athletes for the right reasons. If you are reeling in high school kids (4&5 stars) with the primary focus on their NIL dollars, you’re setting yourself up for cultural volatility, roster turnover, and a “me” first mindset. None are sustainable to win at the highest level. I believe that we are going to miss on certain top notch players who will run for NIL dollars as a primary focus. Call me out…but I like the manner in which our program is selling the UGA value proposition for star student-athletes.
