We’ve always thought, maybe rightly so, that Stegeman was a big limiting factor on hoops.

NIL has changed the game. Now that you can pay guys why spend $20 Million on facilities? Spend a fraction of that on a couple program changing guys who can shoot and rebound. Theoretically NIL should benefit UGA hoops as much as anyone. We are an hour and change away from some of the best NBA talent in the Country. And hoops isn’t like football where it takes a ton of players and depth to be a championship squad. Grab a couple NBA guys and some great role players. Inspire them. Get them to play defense and play together. And you can be a tournament team overnight.

There has never been a time where booster support is higher. I understand football is the driver there but no reason why we can’t spill some of that enthusiasm into hoops. A concerted marketing campaign directed to those already funding football in a big way, selling the dream of a tournament squad year in and year out. Do it right. Bring that same Kirby / football philosophy to hoops. If we can ethically justify millions for football players, we ought to be able to effectively recruit a hoops class we haven’t seen in Athens in a really long time. And keep them in Athens. Yes - with $$$$$.

Calipari changed the game on one and done. We need to change it on NIL. And we have the dough to do it. Either play the game or lose.
