"gun free" zones seem to be the most dangerous places to be. Wonder why.
Pure speculation. It is inarguable that citizens protecting themselves definitely have a better chance than those who don't. The contortions you go through to lay out a contrary scenario are just silly.Doesn't matter anyway. If 19, 6 yr old kids get blown to bits, being shot 5 or 6 times each by an AK 47, whose bullets explode in the body, this certainly isn't going to make things like you want it. Or one of their own being shot, as was Gabby Giffords. NRA is too powerful and Congress is not going against them. Too much $$ in re election campaigns. On both sides.
Everyone has a right to bear arms. However, I don't believe the founding fathers were talking about military weapons, as in the above case.
That NRA board member who blamed the pastor that was killed yesterday, was being absurd and ridiculous. He didn't make any points, imo. Sure, everyone can carry into a church or wherever, but by the time the innocent realize after the shock of what is happening and pull their gun, it will 1) be too late or 2) become a shoot out where more will be killed by accident. So we can all take our chances anywhere in public or stay home. This isn't a left or right, CNN or Fox, Huff Post or WND opinion. It's my own and the way I feel about it. I don't need any news organization from either side telling me what to think.
Fortunately, this guy didn't use an AK 47. Unfortunately, he chose to re load several times and shoot them several times each. He wasn't crazy. He planned this for a while, he told the officers he almost backed out because they were so nice to him. He knew right and wrong. Pure hate and evil.

lump, I hear you . how do you know what the founding fathers were thinking when they did what they did ? muskets were used for military purposes and for civilian purposes(hunting) . legal carry folks prevent attempted murder and robberies all the time, you just don't see it reported in the liberal press . this boys mental state is YET TO BE DETERMINED ! as for military style weapons, they come in several calibers and most are not automatic . these style weapons are used very often by hunters , do you want to see the FEDS stop hunting as well as self defense ?

Sure it's my opinion. I still believe the logic that underpins your opinion on self defense is a bit far fetched. The notion that this situation would have been worse if one or more had resisted this lunatic with firearms is, as I said, silly. I guess your scenario is a possible outcome, just unlikely. You have your opinion, which is right for you. I have mine, which is right for me.

Yep, I know that's what you said. That's it??As I said, I just disagree for ME, am not going to call your opinion silly, etc. it's what's right for you.

Have no idea what founding fathers were thinking, except to say, they didn't have modern weapons and it's just MY opinion. What I envision is for protection and food.
As for the boy's mental state, we'll agree to disagree. He knew right from wrong, he planned it and he spewed his hate over the dead before he left and before he ever went into the church. Again, my opinion, not trying to argue. We all have one. They can be different. And no, not comfortable going into bars, churches, etc. with everyone carrying. But that's me. What's right for me, isn't necessarily right for someone else. We're free to decide with our own personal choices. And that is with anything in life.
Good grief, how stupid. Didn't want to reply, wish this would go away, this thread that is, but so stupid. My wish IS that every member with wherewithal to use them had gun in coat. Sorry for the family of the shooter, but he should've been killed at that church, by sober minded church members.
