Transgendered is a term for people with mental illnesses and there’s no other explanation for anything like that.

Hormone therapies are used in gender-affirming healthcare.
One study, having received a $3.1 million NIH grant, examines whether the estrogen hormone contributes to a greater chance of asthma in women.
Another, which received $455,000, uses mice to study how hormone therapy may impact someone's immune response to an HIV vaccine.
A $299,940 study examines how gender-affirming hormone therapy impacts someone's risk for breast cancer.
Two more look into the impact of hormone therapies: one studies how testosterone might affect fertility while the other focuses on the potential impact on the gut microbiome.
The last one, a $1.2 million NIH-funded study, uses "transgenic mice," not "transgender mice," and focuses on improving healthcare outcomes for LGBTQ+ patients.
Now, we know that this is actually a war on all things Trans, but that doesn’t make the Trump’s statement accurate. Having said that, I should have been more specific about Trump’s exact claim and how it was wrong.

If you meant to say that transgender individuals have a mental illness that is no longer correct.
They have a greater incidence of mental illness but a lot is caused by discrimination such as this, not the fact they are transgender.

The primary point of the article, if you read it, was to chronicle exactly how conflicted Musk is in his current role as the arbiter of what constitutes government waste or not. I have a number of gay friends and business associates and most of them are annoyed by the trans movement. They are productive well adjusted people and they view the “trans crowd” as mostly mentally ill people that marginalize the rest of the gay community.

No because they don’t exist. You can’t transform from male to female. You can take all the drugs and get all the operation’s you want but in the end you are still a male or female. What ever sex you were born.
I have no idea if I’ve ever talked to a dude who thinks he’s really a chick. It certainly has not come up in conversation.
No I have friends that are gay but they don’t advertise it or try to push their beliefs on me.
One of my gay friends, I have several, thinks going in drag is super weird. And that is a whole other level down from the genital mutilation.
