When considering competing items in a product class, I find that the best way to make a selection is to consider a single, critical question: In the event of the zombie apocalypse, will this item serve both its primary function AND aid me in my survival?

I know what you're thinking. My question is impracticable. Silly even. That is because you fail to realize the seriousness of the zombie threat. Zombies will come for us one day, and I for one plan to be prepared. Along with my underground cement bunker, metric tonnes of dry goods, and complete arsenal of weapons, this NETGEAR GS-308 network switch will aid my preparedness.

First I will rate the NETGEAR GS-308 on its primary function: providing network connectivity in your home, office, or compound. In that regard, the GS-308 gets high marks. I've used unmanaged switches in my underground bunker for about 7 years. I swapped out my trusty TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit switch with this one for the purposes of testing. I found no difference in data transfer speeds between the two switches. When transferring my vast archive of pornographic videos from one computer to another, I averaged 69-75MBs transfer speeds. The bottleneck was the hard drives writing the data, not the switch. It's good to know that while I'm waiting for all of the weaklings to die off above ground, I will be safe in my personal bunker with enough entertainment and boxes of Kleenex to keep me happy for a very, very long time.

I like that the design and aesthetics of this switch compliment my bunker's industrial yet sophisticated motif. Gunmetal gray never goes out of style, be in on an 8-port switch or well, a gun. It's the color of survival. The color of destiny. The color of those of us that know the truth and have stared it unflinchingly in the eye.

I also like that this switch is sturdy, heavy-duty, and strong enough to serve as a bludgeoning weapon if the worst comes to worst. Suppose a pack of savage zombies break into my inner sanctum while I am enjoying my copious library of adult movies? I can snatch up this switch and smash their skulls in with it! You might be wondering why I wouldn't have one of my guns handy. I would. But sometimes its fun to improvise. And sometimes you want to swing a sturdy, metal 8-port switch by its attached network cables like an vengeful office worker of doom. Take that, zombies!

So if like me, you require your office and computer equipment to double as a usable weapon against raging zombie hordes, I suggest you seriously consider purchasing the GS-308 switch made by NETGEAR. I could not confirm with NETGEAR that they purposefully designed this switch with a zombie invasion in mind, but I suspect they did. For that, they have my thanks.

I rate this switch five brains out of five.

Sounds more like a Georgia Techie, they would never consider having an actual woman with them.
