I think the only way we get out Tuscaloosa with a W is for our defense to have an A+game.
- Need to hold the Line of Scrimmage (Naz, Brinson, McLeod, Harris, Mykel, JJA, JJ, Thomas, Miller, TID). These 10 guys will determine the game.
- Must stop the run - this has to happen. If we need to commit the safeties into the box then we must do that.
- Backers need to swarm and gang tackle. Milroe gets a lot of extra yards after contact. Need to wrap up and tackle better.
- Need to mix in different types of blitzes and change formations 3 or 4 seconds before the snap. Confusing Milroe is the best way to win this game.
A confused Milroe wants to run so we should look at his tendencies (kind of like Kentucky did with us and the checkdown throws)
- Pressure. Need to bring pressure early and often to keep him thinking. We want him to overthink and make mistakes on his cues. We do this best by changing formations alot and blitzing/faking the blitz.
- Press coverage when we blitz. Always chip the tight end. Put a safety/star on their best wide receiver in addition to the corner when we run zone. Aguero and Malaki need great games for us.
So we can win this game but we need to hold them to 20 points or less imo. Can we do it, sure but it will take our best effort.
