If the game remains tied, you're headed for two-point tries anyway. Why not run your absolute best three-yard play right now... knowing the other team will never have a chance to answer? Get three yards now and win the game.
If you're not confident in your very best two-point play, why on Earth would you resign yourself to a game that will come down to two-point plays?
You will never have this edge again in this game. In the next OT, you have to go on offense first, and both teams MUST go for two. You are clearly at a disadvantage in the 2nd OT, and lord knows what happens after that.
If you score second in the first OT, you have the last advantage you'll have. Use it.
