FWIW, I think most of this is not from USAID - but rather from government agencies buying Politico Pro subscriptions (at 10k a pop.)
I think USAID money went to foreign versions of Politico (which itself is still a problem) but the screenshots above were total gov spending, and not USAID specific.
Still, there is a perverse game when government trade magazines are largely propped up by government purchases for their product, and the influence of those strings on reporting.
I'm not see where this money came from USAID....but rather government paid pro subscriptions to politico from various departments.

To tone it down some. No matter what the reason, it is still taxpayer dollars going to a news outlet. For the government to learn more high level stuff about itself. That isn’t a good idea or use of a resource. It is a massive amount of money for a sub too. It makes you question what kind of information are they providing for that kind of money. On the flip side of it. I would advise trump to find out if the info is worth it at least. That might tone down the rhetoric as well. I have a strong feeling it isn’t worth it. At all. But that is for another day.

Why is UsAID paying politico? If they have a subscription that keeps them afloat, who applied for USAID monies? If a government employee wants to keep tabs on things, why wouldn’t they (or their company) pay? How did this end up at USAID?
