Them Dawgs ate today!!! Huge W and great sign of things to come. We have some really nice pieces that are smart basketball players. The most beautiful thing about this game other than the W is one beautiful word for Mike White: EFFICIENCY!

The Dawgs were extremely efficient on offense. The right guys got the shots and they got good looks. One of my biggest concerns with the Mike White era was on the offensive end and man he is turning these boys loose now and letting them play. The hoops IQ of a lot of our guys is awesome. It’s really fun to watch. Check out our field goal attempts.
Tchewa…..…5 for 11
Jabri…………..5 for 12; 3 for 7 on 3’s
Thomasson..9 for 18; 3 of 8 on 3’s
Melendez…4 for 7
Demary……3 for 5

These are great numbers by all. The right guys are shooting from the right spots on the floor.

Player Analysis
1. Jabri displaying an inside/outside game. Bro was feeling it and tried to one handed yack on a 7 footer 😁😂. We always wondered if he could get there and have some inside the arc points.
2. Noah Thomasson - going full James Harden without being selfish. And he wasn’t surprised either. Looked cool and calm like he expected to do all that. Awesome.
3. Big Tchewa. Runs the floor really well and makes the defense account for him.
4. Melendez. Dude can absolutely drive well and is a DAWG going for the ball.
5. Demary. Rebounds like he is 6’8”.
6. Blue. The steal and lay up. The unselfish nature of getting Jabri a great three.

Significant Moments
1. Silas Demary’s plus/minus numbers in the first half had to be ridiculous. We played so well with him in there.
2. Late in the game, Jalen Deloach made two crucial turnovers, then follows it up with two HUGE rebounds and a roll to the basket dunk. HUGE.
3. Melendez saved us on offense in the last 4 minutes with his offensive board and put back.
4. Big Russ’s kiss to the crowd after the fastbreak dunk was wild! 😁😂

Areas of growth:
White has to re-evaluate his last 4 minutes of game action. Even though he is turning the boys loose on offense now, he climbed back into his shell late and it almost cost us. Jabri was giving them the business and White sat him almost the entire last 5 minutes of the game. We had Justin Hill out there instead. No bueno. We couldn’t score.

Final Analysis:
We have a chance with this squad. Big Russ is going to keep getting more comfortable. Noah is an absolute shot creator/maker. Melendez is going to be a DAWG out there (just ease up on shooting 3’s, big fella). The question is: can Jabri keep balling like this?!?! I think he can. If he can keep giving us buckets from inside the arc and his game grow there, we are going to be fun. I could watch Noah, Jabri, and Blue ball all day.

Great, great W and a PHENOMENAL start to a great weekend. For every hoop Dawg faithful fan out there, absolutely enjoy the heck out of this one!
