3-1 in conference play. 3-1…just awesome. We have won 3 out of 4 games and haven’t been favored in any of them. Super Kario finally slid back on his cape in the second half and that was the complete difference. Somewhere the basketball coach at Florida Southwestern State College is sitting back and smiling and saying, “I tried to tell y’all about that Roberts and that Oquendo. I tried to tell you.” 😁😁😂😂.
First Half:
We couldn’t hit anything. We shot 35%, they shot 48%, but we hit a couple of threes and they hit none. Justin Hill carried us again with 6 huge points. Basically, Hill took over Kario production for this half and the last half of the previous game. Played extremely well.
2nd half:
Kario just takes over. We had nothing going. No one could get anything going for us. We were in a mess and Kario drops a dunk that felt like Thor’s hammer coming down and then drops 3, threes. One of which was highly contested with the shot clock going down that totally changed the game. That one wounded Ole Miss. Then he throat punched them with another three right after that to give us a firm lead. The he ripped their hearts out with 2 free throws to ice the game. Dude was ELITE, in the second half. He had himself a half.
Lowlights:
1. We are having offensive issues. It was Hill or Roberts dribbling A LOT and not really getting anyone else involved. Sometimes that’s out of necessity given the lineups, but other times Kario, Jabri, and Ingram need to get looks.
2. Bridges passing the ball. It’s WILD. 4 turnovers…again. 😳😳😂😂. I don’t know what he is thinking.
Shoutouts:
1. Moncrieffe’s defense. It will not show up in the box score but he can guard almost anyone on the floor and he changes the whole game. He is a beast. Offensive game is coming too. He is taking good shots.
2. Hill has his swag back and that’s essential for this team. We have to have a second guard be able to handle that rock and make plays.
3. Kario not checking out when things were going really poorly for him the last 1.5 games before that second half. He had scored zero points in 1.5 games before that second half.
4. Bridges got some huge boards late that sealed the thing. Great toughness and fight.
What does it mean:
We have an excellent chance to win 2 out of the next 4. That would put us at 5-3, with a chance for more. We need to be there because a rough stretch comes after sec game 8. Lots of tough opponents and on the road too. But the season ends with us having a great chance to finish our season with 3 straight W’s. We are EXACTLY where we want to be with ALL of our goals still right in front of us. Hoop Dawgs everywhere should be PUMPED!!!! Go Dawgs!!!
