John Fetterman's approach to Donald Trump raises questions among Democrats

  1. Fetterman had either fully recovered from his stroke or has permanent damage, depending on your political perspective. (I hope the former)
  2. Is Fetterman one of the last real moderate Dems senators?
  3. He agrees with Trump on boarder, Israel and future of steel manufacturing. So does PA and most of reasonable Americans
  4. Much more of a normal but odd guy than I expected. Someone on the Vent said that when he was running for Senator and based on his medical condition appeared similar to current Biden.

I figure some of it is just playing to the crowd, but figure he will vote Trump’s way on some of his controversial cabinet appointments as well as Supreme Court picks so a win for Trump. We shall see............

He's a Democrat gone rouge on the boarder issue. 😄

He’s a moderate Dem. They don’t really exist anymore.

I suspect he’ll vote party line like most do.

I agree. When he was running, I just assumed he was a nutcase. Has sounded pretty reasonable as of late.

Fetterman can read the room. He's the lone democrat senator in a state that voted for Trump. His "run to the center" is an act. Plus he's a fat slob with tattoos.

I don't doubt that running to the center strategically is part of it. But I will say he is generally more center and unafraid to buck the party-line because he seems less concerned with his seat as a launching pad to something bigger within the Party. I agree that he will most likely vote with his party, but he could be Manchin-lite. More conservative leaning State with large energy concerns.

Fetterman voted with the Progressive agenda 93% of the time in the last Congress, in the neighborhood of Warnock and Schiff. Manchin votes with the Left 79% of the time. The average Democrat Senator was at 89%

He was a cosponsor of the Laken Riley Act this month and voted to move the bill to the Senate floor, but he didn't actually vote on the bill. So far in his term, Fetterman has missed 21.7% of votes, including his high rate of absence when he first arrived. Some of his worst performances, however, have been over the past 9 months. The average senator misses 2.7% of votes.

I used 2 sources for this data, one conservative and one progressive.

I’m not interested in his motives, in trying to forecast the future, or looking a gift horse in the mouth. He is a far left wing guy and always has been. The fact that he is exhibiting better judgment and common sense than 99% of the Democratic Party speaks volumes as to how far in the toilet they are.

We can be friends as long as he keeps doing what he’s doing. If it helps him politically in his state is of no import to me. When he changes course and goes full blown AOC crazy, then I’ll hate his fat ass again.
