UGA SPORTS SPOTLIGHT:

I’m gonna mention a Dawg great in the UGA sports spotlight section this morning, just to make sure at least something Dawg is mentioned today in this “DAWGChat” forum…Today the Georgia Bulldog in the spotlight is former Dawg Golfer James R. Gabrielsen……….

James R. Gabrielsen was born in St. Peter, Minnesoata, on October 28, 1941……..While attending the University of Georgia, Gabrielsen was selected as an All-American (1963) and his teams took three consecutive SEC Championships…He was a quarterfinalist in the 1962 U.S. Amateur………His exceptional amateur career gained him three Georgia Amateur titles, the Atlanta Amateur Championship, and he was runner-up in the 1974 British Amateur………Gabrielsen also competed in three Masters Tournaments……..He was a member of the 1971 Walker Cup team, a non-playing captain of the 1981 and ‘91 Walker Cup teams, and the general chairman of the 1989 Walker Cup Match in Atlanta……..He was a member of the USGA Executive Committee and is a former GSGA Director…….Gabrielsen served as president of Atlanta’s Peachtree Golf Club from 1987-89………

Thanks RCH! Great post and Gabe's father was UGA Swim coach for years and his sister was the wife of Jack Lumpkin of golf teaching fame. Gabe also made a fortune off the purchase and sale of an insurance agency. He and his partner became known in London and The Agency The London of Atlanta Agency. He now resides in Ponte Vedra, Fla. As I enjoyed my favorite morning, I just could not get it out of my mind that some poor sap actually endured the hiccups for 68 years. Then they stopped. Wonder if someone finally approached him and shared, "Hey, buddy, a long continuous sip of water will make them go away"?

Yep, the hiccup factoid was the one that stood out most to me today also.........D, JD...............
 
Terrific Ramblings today, rch. Took care of 30 minutes of my boring day, and now I don't know what to do. Maybe some bickering will break out in the afternoon when the libs get up.
