at UGA. Somebody even used the word ''crippling'', I'm not sure if that was a direct quote from Saban though.
The Midget also said he never considered anybody other than Pruitt to replace Kirby, he called it ''a no brainer''. So Saban has our old DC game planning and recruiting while Our new HC prepares his defense while We're losing ground every day becaused We don't have a HC working for Us. It's sad.. We are willing dupes for Saban.
Also Kirby let it slip the other day that He game planned for Bama while at UGA. He said it was only while on planes, in His hotel and at other down times. This might explain why He failed to contact Derrick Brown for over a week. You know who did contact Brown right away ? Pruitt, as soon as He took the Bama job.

And all of that is our own damn fault. Saban takes full advantage that's why he wins championships and we don't.

I agree with maybe 2/3 of Your post.
We can win without scheming like Saban, but letting Him have His way is different, that is just plain foolish.
I'll liken it to a person well known for being untrustworthy. You don't need to be somebody like that, but You damn sure better keep Your guard up and not let Him take advantage of You.

Settle down.. Kirby has his hires, they haven't been anounced yet because they are still with their respected teams through the Bowl season.

Official coaching hires are just a small part of the work that goes into building His program.
He will lose a whole month He could be devoting to Our program.
Make no mistake, this is good for Saban and bad for Us.

I think so too. Regardless... Saban had to say something like that to make himself look better at losing someone who's been with him for years. But if Saban had any kind of ethics, he'd be praising & complimenting Kirby for his loyalty. Which privately I'm guessing he is.

He's now got one with an ego as big as his own. Let's see if the new DC can be as insubordinate, disruptive & backstabbing to the HC as he was here. I think Saban will handle it.

Well maybe it's bad for Saban and Bama think about. Free publicity for UGA Davis and Willson probley coming maybe Saban is panicking in side. Please Kirby don't go why you taking Shuchman. Kirby like dude you lucky I'm staying. I recruited these players not you. Kirby going to bring the Bama house down.

Some are saying Saban is done after this year...Not much else to achieve.

Especially Finebaum. I was surprised he hired Pruitt so quickly. IF he's leaving, & , he knew Kirby would be so busy with game planning & UGA duties, Pruitt was taken to recruit.

Now wouldn't that be something? I'd still like to know exactly when Pruitt's last day & pay was/is & 1st official start date at Bama.

you only mentioned a small portion of the presser , saban said that using it as a point of kirbys character....hell cmr dont have his staff put together and he aint playing for anything - far greater things in this world to worry about besides kirby finishing what he started ...you dont think that him not walking out on guys he signed means a little something to who he recruits in the future? do you not think kirby sitting in a recruits living room with one more ring to add to the collection doesnt mean something to a recruit, do you not think the constant mentioning of uga and their new head coach who is coaching his last game or games with the tide isnt great for us?

What is the relevance to Saban's calling Kirby's staying a point of character ? If He values staying through the season, why did He take Pruitt away from his duty ?
MY point is We got fleeced by Saban.
I absolutely don't think whatever happens in the playoffs will help Us in recruiting. This is a net negative for Our program, and a net positive for Bama's program.

Actually just read his statement in the paper and he says it will be a tremendous benefit for Kirby and UGA going forward for him to be coaching in this upcoming game because of the tremendous number of people watching, the exposure and his name being thrown out along with his accomplishments. All of which will direct positive attention to his new program and he.

That part is typical Saban speak.
A month on the job would be far more beneficial than another month at The Emperor's feet.
If 3 titles isn't enough to impress a player, 1 more won't tilt the scales.
So Saban having Our HC at this critical period is GOOD for UGA..The man could sell ice to Eskimos.

This botched transition is just another storied chapter in the long, proud history of The Georgia Way.

"If there's a self defeating way of doing something, by god we're gonna do it!"

What is so critical ???its the dead period

I'm very proud of ''The Georgia Way'', at least in it's best meaning.
McGarity has taken it from Saban and shoved it right up Our collective bums though. Our side has taken 2 major ass whippings from the Master Midget this year, and the year ain't over yet.

Dead period My ass. The whole program has to be built to Smart's liking. Probably 90% of that work is behind the scenes. So He steps back in right when He has to go on the road recruiting with the program in chaos.
He could have taken this month to put the house in order, that would have been hugely useful wit.h recruiting, spring ball, etc rushing at Him when he gets through polishing Saban's latest trophy, it might as well be Saban's knob

Exactly. Just some can't get past CMR is gone and so is Pruitt.... it's a new era in the Bulldawg Nation.

Nice straw man argument you crafted there. So now if someone is critical of the transition, that means they're just a CMR loyalist? Gotcha.

I'm glad CMR is gone (I'm sort of indifferent about Pruitt). I'm also optimistic about what Kirby can accomplish. But that doesn't mean I'm happy about him continuing to work for Alabama for the next month. He's got a shit ton of work to do in Athens right now. Is he or is he not the Georgia head coach?

Yeah, I say give the staff a month off after signing day too. Spring practice won't start until March.

Kirby also let it slip He was working on a game plan for the Michigan State game while in Athens. That helps explain why He didn't call Derrick Brown till a week after taking the job.

Let's call next season off or Fire KIrby one!

Wouldn't be much different than the country club atmosphere during the last staff would it?

Uh...no. Doesn't exactly make it right either.

If you think I'm a CMR loyalist, you're sadly mistaken. I've wanted him gone for a long time now. But now that he's gone that doesn't mean I'm going to turn my brain off and drink more of the kool-aid.

What was he supposed to say? "Pruitt wasn't my first choice but what the hell I hired him anyway." Of course he is going to say that he is the best pick in the world. I don't remember all this drama when Richt stayed at FSU through the championship. By scoring Eason which will help with the other offensive commits, I thinks Kirby's recruiting has been a success.

You guys are talking out your butt. You have no idea what any of these guys agree to in there contacts. You are speculating out your butt.

Why would you want a coach to not do what he said he was going to do, no matter what the other parties do.

So let me get this straight, it's okay to not live up to your word because someone else doesn't. . Is that what you want Kirby to do?

Don't be ridiculous, you should be proud to have him coaching our team. Cool your jets, let the man do his job.

Being a smart ass is prob
Just keep on having -enis envy over st nick ...dudes got it going on , quit hating and just hope his protege can follow in his footsteps

I'm not a hypocrite. I didn't agree with some of The midget's scheming and I don't want Kirby repeating them here.
He can't do most of them anyway, rules were changed because Saban abused every little crack in the rules He could find. He has absolutely no respect for the intent or spirit of rules. That stuff should be policed by McGarity and The Athletic Board. I know many of You would be for letting Kirby run the school, but some of Us will resist giving Him more power than most HCs have.
If He wants to be The Second Emperor Of Gumptown, I'm guessing He'll get His chance when Saban retires.

I'm all for the attention to detail, excellent recruiting, organizational excellence, etc, but not the slimy stuff.

Are You out of Your gourd ?
You actually think it's ok that Saban duped Us into letting Him have Our HC/DC plus Our old DC for a critical month ?
I think You just have no concept of fair play or standards, whoever can manipulate the best is a winner, is that Your view of The World ?

Give Saban a call, He might have something he'll let you polish.
There truly are things happening in the background Helen, maybe things like making a choice of coaches and not promoting or hiring one that Kirby would like and hiring someone who Kirby would as soon leave instead. Maybe. KS wants a young staff of defensive coaches so he can put his stamp on the defense and NS is helping him and helping himself. And KS is helping NS. What if the nasty ole 64 Y.O. coach had 3 guys of his he could help and himself. He could hire one the new head coach didn't want but he did and not promote one that the new coach wants and get both still preparing his team and ease the mind of all 3 guys. Plus keep one from going to (?auburn?) to save GUS.

Wonderful thing about America is we can still express our feelings freely (today, although some on the far fringe left and the nation's AG think the first amendment is just a misguided suggestion). And you don't hold back expressing your's....goood! But you also have the right to be wrong and you are dead wrong here. So sit down, set back and let Jessie rob this train. It'll all be over shortly and we'll be on our way, the wiser and better off for it. Kirby is doing these things for a reason or reasons and ADM knows. First off, Kirby made it plain up front and that made him even more desirable. This thing did not just jump up in a vacuum. The talks have been ongoing. CMR tried to play his cards when he raced off to Wash to appear to have the whiz kid QB in his pocket but the folks at UGA and the new coach countered. And everybody is going to wind up ok here. In the past do you think (A) UGA would have wound up with the nation's best player, a program saving QB without the head coach who recruited him on the job and horrors, a defensive minded coach who is still working at another school as his head coach. (B) And Dawgs get who the coach really wants to fill out the best or co-best defensive staff, recruiting and coaching wise in America..........All is well.

Predictions: The national title comes back to Athens within 5 years (probably sooner) and the east much sooner and far more regularly. Recruiting, discipline are significantly better and graduation increases slightly. Nick Saban leaves coaching within 3 years (or less), takes the AD job and JP is the next head coach there. Ought to be some entertainment with Will @ USC, Kirby in Athens and Jimmy down in Gainesville. And JP stirring the pot. CBS will like the ratings.

Absolutely not about being CMR loyalist. Was not directed at anyone specifically. What I meant was, some of the threads start out new, then become missing CMR and Pruitt, over and over and over.

They're gone. Time for Kirby! I wish he was here too, however, I understand and think in the long run, it will be to our benefit. As bad as it will be in Jax with tv and how few coaches we have, it will be the opposite, imo, during NC game. Should be impressive to recruits who have almost a month to make their final decision after that game. Week before last, it sounded like we were about to lose Eason. Kirby and the new coaches managed to seal the deal in a few days.

I suppose Kolton Houston pretty much summed it up in how much they love and respect the coaches who stayed with them through the bowl. As he said, it shows "how much they care about the players." Kirby did the same thing.

I think Saban may retire the day after signing day.

No. He's staying at least another year. Made commitments to some. No chance of that but watch after that. Plus he's wore down but wants to stay around and he and his wife like where they live. Battle is ready to go and that's what he'll do.....AD like Dooley.

Never thought of him as AD. We'll see what happens. Might be right. Think it would be awesome if he left this year after NC game or signing day.

If I had a 12 million "spec" house in the mtns, I wouldn't want to move either. Not far anyway. But definitely out of Alabama.
