I know that rings hollow tonight (it does for me, too) but it's a BIG deal. To win our conference this season is honestly realizing this team's ceiling. Probably an overachievement.
It was a grind from start to finish. Nothing was easy. Never felt like we hit our stride. Just an agonizing, plodding grind.
We are not what we were despite the SEC Championship. Yes, some of that is the nature of the new landscape of college football with the portal and NIL, but this isn't the caliber of staff we've grown accustomed to under Kirby. Not even as recruiters. The talent cupboard needs to rebuilt, especially on offense.
We have to get better. To win the SEC in a year that may prove to be a reset of the program demonstrates what we still are, though. Hopefully this lights a renewed fire and hunger. Tonight felt like we lost to a hungrier program. Kirby needs more surrogates of his standard.
Culture is strong. Go Dawgs!
