Was talking to a friend about how it seems in recent years the head coaching in the SEC is not quite what it used to be, especially in the SEC East. Take a look at what we have currently and then compare to the 2013 season:

2022
Georgia: Kirby Smart
Florida: Billy Napier
Tennessee: Josh Heupel
Kentucky: Mark Stoops
Missouri: Eli Drinkwitz
Vanderbilt: Clark Lea
South Carolina: Shane Beamer

2013
Georgia: Mark Richt
Florida: Will Muschamp
Tennessee: Butch Jones
Kentucky: Mark Stoops
Missouri: Gary Pinkel
Vanderbilt: James Franklin
South Carolina: Steve Spurrier

Georgia and Tennessee are currently in better situations than in 2013, with Georgia having its best coach ever.
It's too early to determine the Florida matchup but it's still not clear which one is better at this point.
Kentucky, Mizzou, Vandy, and South Carolina had their program's best head coaches EVER in 2013. (KY still has him)

In the West, let's quickly compare now vs. then:
Auburn: Harsin (fired) vs. Malzahn
Alabama: Saban both years
LSU: Brian Kelly vs. Les Miles
Ole Miss: Kiffin vs. Freeze
Miss. St.: Leach vs. Mullen
Arkansas: Pittman vs. Bielema
Texas A&M: Jimbo vs. Sumlin

A little murkier waters here as it looks like only Auburn had a much better coaching situation then vs. now. The rest of the matchups could be debated but I think Arkansas has definitely upgraded, in my opinion.

Just food for thought...
