A friend of mine brought up this topic today. If a white person born in Africa, let's assume 5th generation South African, and has become an American citizen, is that person an African American? Do all Blacks, even those with no African ancestry, consider themselves African American? Final question, many scholars believe all humans evolved & migrated from Africa, if that's the case, should we all be categorized as African Americans?

I want this to be a genuine conversation, not to flame anyone's ideas.

If you believe all humans evolved and migrated from Africa, then...

I would say, yes. I'm ready for the US blacks to go all in and start calling themselves "Slave Descendent Americans". That would get rid of any confusion over whether or not they deserve special treatment.

I have read that the black african is the true homo sapien ...

and that the white man came about from the true black homo sapien coming North and mating with the neanderthals. What sayeth the chat? I don't care if this leads to genuine conversation or not. It is an admitted attempted hijacking.

Have often pointed out famous people from South Africa such as

Charlize Theron and Dave Matthews, et al. Not sure if they're US citizens now, but they would truly be "African Americans"...more so than black folk born in the US. Just another PC hypocracy perpetuated by libs who can't come to terms with just "blacks"
On the geneology issue. There are some who claim that all human life originated in Africa with Mother Ham. They claim the black race is the only pure race and all others are mutated genetic races.

IDKS but if it makes them feel better...hey, run with it...and start acting like it. We mutants are kicking your collective ASS!

Remember it was when Black Americans decided they didn't like

being called that this all started before they really considered that it makes no sense.

Daughter has a friend/classmate whose parents are from South Africa.

She might even have been born in SA but she is an American citizen. Technically a white African American. She is not allowed to fill out a form as an African American, if you look into it there is some language about being black being required to claim AA status.

My favorite was when the idiot on MSNBC called...

Nelson Mandella an african-american.

The term makes absolutely no sense. James Brown was black and proud.
