Georgia’s Silas Demary Jr. was one of five players named a National Player of the Week on Tuesday by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) in association with the Oscar Robertson Trophy.

Demary Jr. led the Bulldogs to victories over No 3 Florida and Texas last week, posting a pair of 20-point performances. He was key to Georgia taking control of each game early. Demary Jr. scored 10 points in the first 5:31 against the Gators as the Bulldogs raced to a 20-6 lead. At Texas, he notched 10 points in the first half as Georgia opened up a 49-26 lead at the intermission.

Demary Jr. finished with 21 points against Florida and a career-high 26 at Texas. He did so in an extremely efficient fashion, shooting a combined 57.7 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from 3-point range.

Those games headline an impressive six-game stretch against No. 22 Mississippi State, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 21 Missouri, No. 1 Auburn, No. 3 Florida and Texas in which Demary Jr. has averaged 20.5 points and recorded additional career highs of seven assists against Mississippi State and 40 minutes versus Missouri.
