After an Okie punt that was clearly going into the end zone but he thought it might hit him so he covered it at the 1-2 yard line, what would have happened if he backed up and it hit him in the end zone? I wasn't sure so unlike the LSU players who let us run that blocked field goal in the SEC CH. a few years ago I decided to learn the rules.
If hit anywhere in the end zone on the ground it is a touchback. If hit before the goal line and bounced off him the end zone it is a live ball for Okie to recover or for him to run back. What I wonder is it hit the field of play and bounced into the end zone and he caught it before it hit the ground and downed it is a touchback or a safety?
