History says you will only get a good OC for maybe one more year after winning it all but most likely, they gone. After seeing Chip Kelly leave OSU for the Raiders I was curious to see what has happened to National Championship OCs. Here are the last 10 offensive coordinators to win a CFB Playoff national championship.
2024 - Chip Kelly (left for Raiders OC)
2023 - Sherrone Moore (promoted to HC)
2022 - Todd Monken (left for Ravens OC)
2021 - Todd Monken
2020 - Steve Sarkisian (left for Texas HC)
2019 - Joe Brady* (left for Panthers OC)
2018 - co OCs Tony Elliott (now head coach at Virginia; Jeff Scott (now head coach at South Florida
2017 - co OCs Brian Daboll (now head coach NY Giants) Mike Locksley (now head coach at Maryland)
2016 - co OCs Tony Elliott (now head coach at Virginia; Jeff Scott (now head coach at South Florida
2015 - Lane Kiffin (now head coach at Ole Miss)
2014 - Tom Herman (left for Houston HC, then Texas, now at FAU)
* technically Joe Brady wasn’t the OC but he won the Broyles award and was the passing game coordinator/wide receiver coach. I believe it was him who was running that offense though
