Well Trump's problem with the Postal Service is that they continue to take losses yet refuse to raise the cost to help their losses. I see his point ...Why should we pump money in to them before they try to pump money into themselves first?
Google the Postal Enhancement and Accountability Act sometime. Passed in 2006, it requires the Postal Service to deviate from GAAP and expense over $72 Billion in future health and retirement benefits. No other government agency or private company has these requirements, just the Postal Service.
According to the Institute of Policy Studies, the Postal Service would have had an operating profit in each of the last six years if not for this law (again, which puts requirements on the USPS that no other entity has).
