Eventually, it took four trained adults to control this student. He wanted to exit (elope from) the room, as well as a potential danger to himself or other students and this could not be ignored.
The strength and power of this 5th grade student was something to witness.
I'm sharing this because some have no clue what goes own in a SpEd classroom. We have multiple guidelines we MUST follow that are dictated by the State and other agencies.
The old days of restraining a student or restricting a students movements are tightly regulated.
