I posted the other day that I recently lost my mom. We lost my step dad a few years back, so everything from their house will need to be sorted and handled before anything can be done with the house itself. It's just my brother and I in the will and we are on the same page, which makes things easier.

But this is new ground for me, so I'm curious if someone who has been through this before can point me in the right direction for next steps. Do we need to hire an attorney to help with everything? How do we go about getting added as signers to her bank account to make sure bills continue to be paid on time? Seems like a mountain of work to close out a person's life and I'm admittedly not looking forward to it, so any help on where to start would be appreciated.
