NonDawg Stony River steak house question

It’s also not nearly as good as any of the other named steakhouses.
You sure you weren't drunk? Downstairs reminds me of my parents restuarant...stuck in the 80s with the cigarette machine and all. Hals gets thier own private cut of meat from Buckhead Beef
I'm sure I was drunk. But also sure what was happening. That place has been wide open more than a few times I've been there.

You can and should do better. I’d heed the advice of the board. Another solid option is Marcel.
Disagree. There's a lot of marriage game left if they hope to make it to 25, 50, or more years of bliss.

You high rollers complain about the alimony after setting high financial expectations along the way to failed marriages. Keep the main thing the main thing and don't let finances dominate the relationship when money issues already dominate life in general.

Play the long game OP!

My 1 year anniversary is coming up soon so I’m thinking about taking my wife to Stony River for dinner. Anyone have a recommendation as to which one? I feel like the one in Duluth is the best “location” but wanted to see if someone here had personal experience. Thanks in advance!

The two best steakhouses in Atlanta (IMO) are Kevin Rathbun Steak and Marcel. I'm guessing anyone who says Hal's is better has not been to either of those places.

That doesn't mean you can't have a great meal at Hal's, Chop's, Bone's, etc, but personally I feel I can cook a steak better. I've left mostly unimpressed from those places. Capital Grille in Buckhead is probably my favorite Buckhead steakhouse if we're only talking about food, even though it's a chain. I'd like to try Arnette's in Brookhaven, have heard good things.

One other side note - Hal's failed a health inspection back in 2016 which is a huge red flag. Careless and arrogant management to charge people a premium while operating a restaurant like that: https://www.ajc.com/news/local/buck...nspection-report-says/g8t18g2IYvYQ4C48LZ7FQP/

You can do better than Stony River. Try Lobster Bar in Buckhead, seafood and Prime steaks. She gets lobster you get the strip. Uber down so both of you can enjoy few glasses of wine. Someone else suggested Little Ally, FAR better than Stony which is Choice cut steaks for Prime prices.
Can’t like this enough...best place in Atl.

Vent at its finest. OP ask which Stony River location is best and 50 post telling him why he should go elsewhere. Good work fellas.
Thank you, we all did our part, glad you appreciate it. May be it helps you as well. He asked which location, you can infer the conclusion/consensus was "none of them" hence the many outstanding recommendations.

You are correct. I learned a lot.

If you’re local to both, do pampas. I’m in Johns creek and I’ve had both. Pampas is the better local option for sure.

Whatever you do, enjoy the occasion!

I live just West of the Gwinnett-Barrow line so it's "local" enough for me. I had heard of Pampas before, but don't know much. "Fine dining" for me growing up was Olive Garden or Longhorn so I'm slowly working on broadening my horizon's with this type of stuff.

Atlanta is a great food town to explore if that is the case! Literally anything you can imagine from mom and pop bahn mi places on Buford Hwy, to funky Spanish tapas in Decatur, or a steak that’s out of this world in west midtown. GATA!

To me, the best steak (quality, price, freshness) is across the street from the Stoney River at Whole Foods. Go to the meat counter and pick one out or ask them to cut you on to your specifications.

Then on your way to the grill, browse their wine section and select a really nice bottle for the price you will pay for a couple of glasses at any of restaurants mentioned in this thread. After you’ve selected your wine, take it and the steaks over to the grill and if Shelia is working you hit the trifecta, she will take care of you! Just select your two sides and enjoy.

Oh by the way, any male on this thread that says they order a filet / prefer a filet needs to have their man card taken away! Ribeye (bone-in or boneless) is the only way to go for the best flavor.
