History major Gump: Is this the worst loss in our history? Perhaps the most talented roster in college football. Is this it?

"A day that will live in infamy" Gump:
It's bad.....it's one thing to lose a title game or a tough SEC game

This is up there with LA-Monroe or Northern Illinois

"Strawberry jam and our DC are a perfect match" Gump: Is Womack toast ? Please tell me that DeBoer has the stones to make a change after yesterday. There is just no way that Womack keeps his job after how bad the defense has looked the last three halves.

"That's my story and I'm sticking to it" Gump: Vanderbilt is still an SEC team despite being Vandy. It’s a bad loss but there have been worse.

"Vandy made us squeal like a pig" Gump: Those losses could be excused because of the NCAA stuff that we were dealing with at the time. This loss is reprehensible. Our roster is far too talented to get butt raped by Vandy. DeBoer might not be the best person for this job. Wommack is certainly in over his head.

Tough Love Gump:
We've lost to worse overall teams, but this is still by far one of the worst losses.

If your team is bad, losing to other bad teams means nothing.

We were undefeated, #1, coming off a huge historic win, supposed to be this juggernaut program, etc.

We are better than Vandy at basically every single position on the field.

And they completely dominated the game.

"Petey come back" Gump:
Wommack shouldn't be fired mid-season...but he's on notice for a serious postseason evaluation. Pete Golding's defense just held South Carolina to 3 points. Pete freakin Golding. Next Saturday...let's see what we do.

Worst loss? Bama has lost to worse teams, sure, but they weren't ranked #1 with what was listed as the most talented roster in college football.

This was the worst loss in Bama football history.

How they respond will tell us everything.

"The only person I know that said they've seen worse says it reminded them of the day they found out JFK had been shot" Gump:
Worst loss relative our roster and what it could mean for the future of the program.

Even talking with friends the consensus seems to be the worst loss in the last 40 years.

"We can't trust DeBoer. Thank God we don't have to." Gump:
I take some comfort in knowing that Deboer really won't be the one who decides if Wommack hangs around or not. It'll be Greg Byrne.
Deboer doesn't carry the weight to decide these things on his own, and headcoaches are often loyal to assistants to a fault. If it's the right thing for the program, Greg Byrne will make it happen.

"Vandy beat the fandom out of me" Gump: hey mods, how does one delete ones account sans porn bomb? I've got no use for this place anymore, it's full of utter retards

Air traffic controller Gump: This isn’t an airport. You don’t have to announce your departure.

"The inmates run the asylum" Gump: The issue that I think is the most important is not being addressed. For Malachi Moore, a team captain, to act that way at the end of the game and to represent the University of Alabama that way is absolutely inexcusable. I did not get to watch all of the game, and I would like someone to let me know if he was eventually taken off the field or if he refused to come off the field. For several games now, I have watched discipline issues with this team, including that of number 98 running across the field to get involved in the small skirmish with Georgia before halftime. Our defensive lineman want to jump up and dance at times for making a stop. I’m not going to overreact in regards to a loss, even one in which we should be 4 touchdowns better than the other team, but the above behavior is absolutely inexcusable at the end of the game.

"Moore's like: I'm the Captain now." Gump: A report I saw said they tried to replace him with Hubbard, but Moore refused to leave the field.

"Vandy is a borderline playoff team. We good." Gump:
I mean Vandy has an absolute baller literally perfect for his offense at QB who threw a perfect game.

People are letting the name Vanderbilt make this loss 10x worse than it actually was. Auburn last year was a miracle pass away from being a FAR worse loss. This Vandy team probably beats Auburn this season.

Propaganda busting Gump: Vandy just came off a loss to Georgia State.

Culture shock Gump: That is very, very disturbing to me. Can an insider or a coach from some level comment on this? I can’t remember that kind of behavior since 2000, when we were # 3 preseason, only won 3 games, and Dubose was fired. I cannot believe he was not taken off the field, however it had to be done.

"Nothing to see here" Gump: Grown men pouting like children over one game is sad. Some of yall need to get a grip on yourselves. Its fine to get caught up in the moment but its the next day, move on

"I have no patience for your excuses, Mrs. DeBoer" Gump: Superior talent in 2007? Bama was still dealing with the strain of scholarship limitations on top of Shula's lackluster recruits and lost half the starting roster to the textbook scandal by the time these games were played. To suggest these games are even remotely equivalent is laughably false but unsurprising coming from the resident retard. And it doesn't fricking matter whether these are "his players or not". Our backups should beat Vandy by 30 or at the very least take the lead at any point in the game, even if they had a blow up doll leading them. Just take the L and admit your husband royally shite the bed.

Oger Gump:
I think most are being pretty realistic. Losing to Vandy with our talent disparity is absolutely inexcusable and trying to sunshine pump after what we saw yesterday is fricking laughable. This wasn’t a fluky loss a la 2015 OM or 2012 A&M. We just got our asses whipped in every phase of football by VANDY.

VANDY

"Moore's behavior was acceptable when you lose to Vandy" Gump:
That might be symptomatic of a greater problem, but on its own, it's not even remotely the most important issue.

Football is a sport of intense aggression and willfully dialing it down isn't easy, especially when faced with what we all saw.

The reality of that loss. The reality of losing to Vanderbilt descended upon him like a lightning bolt. What we saw was a player who was in profound dismay as to what was happening around him. He simply couldn't compute it.

He gets a pass.

"Good loss" Gump:
Our history dates back 132 years, you know.

And Vandy will have a winning record and be in a bowl game this year.

Yes I am still pissed and no we shouldn’t have lost to them but damn, people, get a grip!

Nathan Jessup Gump:
Name a worse loss.

Bama was #1 and a 4 score favorite. They were 4-0 and just beat the #2 team in the country, so not a paper tiger.

Vandy was 2-2 and had lost to Georgia State earlier in the year and was 11-29 under their current coach who went 2-10 the previous year.

Show me a loss that’s worse.

"History don't lie" Gump:

Bad Losses in my life off the top of my head.

1999-LaTech at Legion Field. I was at this game. They threw like a 30 yard TD pass with like 3 seconds left to beat us.

2000- UCF- Start Up program and the most disappointing team in Bama history

2003- Northern Illinois. My dad paid money to watch the game on PPV. Awful

2006- Mississippi State. The final nail in Shulas coffin.

2007-ULM- Didn’t watch listened on radio, sucked.

2024- Vandy. Vandy is probably the best team of these we have lost to but this is by far our most talented team so this is probably the worst.

A loss is a loss Gump: So a loss to Georgia would have been better? It’s still ONE loss.
