was up in Lexington in the first SEC series last year. @MasonR98 mentioned that in his “In Comparison” thread and it’s a good point.

The result of this last weekend was the same as Lexington, but that’s pretty much where the commonality ends. It was ugly last season. After we took a decent lead, like 5-0 or 5-1 I think, that was early in game one, we just got worked the rest of the weekend. Run-ruled, non-competitive, we had a pitcher get ejected for throwing at a batter… the whole weekend was ugly… and it marked the first and only time that I really questioned what our coaching staff was doing.

They got the boat righted though. We didn’t get swept again, we swept a series from South Carolina on the road later that off-set Lexington, and we got ourselves a national seed.

I don’t always agree with the decisions our coaches make. Whether it’s a righty or a lefty on the mound, I think Ryan Black ought to playing 2b and Robbie Burnett in LF. But I can’t quibble with not only the overall results, but what we do to get there. They got every drop of juice out of that team last year. And I think we’ll see the same when this season is done, also. These aren’t really good coaches we have, they’re great coaches. And they’ll get this back on the right track.

It never feels ok getting swept. And while feelings aren’t a great barometer for anything, it feels a lot different now than it did after Lexington last year.

We’ll be fine. I fully expect to take that series from Arkansas next weekend
