I know it's a drop in the bucket compared to the overall cost of buying tickets & parking from UGA, but I just had to vent a bit about all the price increases & added fees that come with buying season tickets & parking through UGA now:
- Season tickets now include a $25 per ticket "fee". That's up from $13 per ticket last year, so basically double. What this "fee" gets you or covers, I have no clue, since they don't specify. It can't be related to printing costs, since they don't print tickets anymore. But if you do request printed tickets, there's a separate fee for that too (can't remember exactly, but my dad always does this since he's technologically challenged!).
- Parking passes now come with a $100 fee (zero additional fee before). Oh yeah, and an additional $4 "per ticket fee in lieu of an overall order charge", whatever the hell that means. So $104 for something that cost $0 last year. On top of the minimums to qualify for parking going way up across the board.
- Depending on how early you ordered them, seatbacks were $60 last year, but are going up to $75 this year. Wait, check that- each seatback also carries an unspecified $5 "fee", so it's really $80. So a 33% increase from last season to this season. Now, they swear they're using new seatbacks this year (after I don't know that they had ever actually changed seatbacks since the inception of the seatback program), and these will include a mesh back & be more breathable, but honestly, I'll believe it when I see it. Regardless, not sure if it will be worth 33% more than the old ones.- **EDIT- I have now received a few pics of the new seatbacks from the ticket office, & they are new & look better than the previous versions. Mesh back & seat bottom (so they don't retain water like the old ones), and the mesh bottom sits above the bleacher so it should be decently comfortable.
Look, I know UGA is doing everything they can to maximize revenue, but just roll these costs into the listed prices, and don't insult us & rub it in our faces with all these various & unspecified "fees". Just say a season ticket is $585 instead of $560 + $25, or a parking pass is $104 instead of $100 + $4, or seatbacks are $80 instead of $75 + $5. It's just annoying as much as anything else.
