There is lots of good news from today’s game:
1) Beck played quite well for his first road game in a tough environment. Lots of clutch third down throws.
2) Great to have Ladd back.
3) Pass blocking is solid.
4) Like Bell at running back.
5) Secondary had some key PBU.’s.
6) Play action is killer.
7) Brock looked great.
There are a number of issues that may cost us a game or two down the road.
1) Not setting the edge on D.
2) Bad runs fits by 10 and 2.
3) Turnovers.
4) Very inconsistent guard play, especially in run game.
5) Babying Beck early in the game is not working.
Rambling thoughts. Our D is sub par by Kirby standards. We need to score early and often. We need to trust Beck and unleash the passing game early. We need to rely on the pass to set up the run. If 32 can’t adapt and set the edge we need to be giving some of his reps to younger players.
