Polls almost unanimously have us in the top 6 or 7. I think 7 is the lowest I've seen and 1 is the highest. Most have us in the 3-6 range. Which begs the question from some of my fellow brethren here: why do some think this run is over or that next year is a rebuilding year?
Every year the blue chip ratio comes out to tell you who can realistically win the natty. Both ND and OSU were in the top 10. Some had Ohio St. listed as #1. We'll be in the top 5 of those ratios. We'll have a lot of new pieces, and sometimes that's a good thing. Perhaps a new hunger will emerge. And I'm not predicting we go 16-0, but I just keep thinking...Who's roster would you rather have? What coach would you rather have?
Would I like Jeremiah Smith? Sure, but we've made significant upgrades at WR. I'm not sure who is going to throw Smith the ball, and do they have a compliment like Ebuka opposite him? Ohio St. will lose their whole D. Very reminiscent of our '21 team where a bunch of guys returned who could have gone pro. Henderson and Judkins most likely to the league.
I see some outlets are really high on Texas. Are we THAT sure of Arch? They lose Bond to the league.
