The Top 20 charts back then had everyone from Dean Martin to Roger Miller to The Beach Boys to the Four Seasons to the Dixie Cups to Jeannie C Riley to the Beatles. Incidentally, I saw Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in 1972. It was an older crowd, and I, Mr Super Hip, took a girl friend with long, long blonde hair. We had a blast. At one point, they must have done a dozen number 1 songs in a row. It was incredible. We were totally surprised and had a great time.
