It's a joke that apparently bombed, based on a recurring issue with the island. That doesn't make it "racist", which was the argument above. It makes it a bad joke.Theres no way for trump's team to spin this positively.
A "floating island of trash" implies that the residents there are also garbage.
This "joke" is grossly misplaced and is not going to have positive effects for trump. To most Puerto Ricans, his team just lost a lot of credibility. That is a very prideful group of people...and when you start disparaging their home, you become public enemy number 1.
Trump's team approved this nonsense, as well as the other speakers and their words. It is part of the campaign now since it has been included in an official event. Can't walk it back. They have to own it. but they won't...
And the Progs say, I'll take things that don't matter once again, Alex. It's a joke that apparently bombed, based on a recurring issue with the island. That doesn't make it "racist", which was the argument above. It makes it a bad joke.
I doubt this has any effect on the outcome of the election. The only place this is getting any play is in liberal circle jerks/therapy sessions.
I never mentioned it was racist but folks will see it that way and they are allowed to make that inference. It's human nature. Trumps team knew he was going to say it. They didn't have him omit the "joke" even though they knew of how bad it might play with fringe voters ("doesn't reflect the views of the trump campaign" statement has already hit the wires). They now have to spend the next 8 days in damage control because they are fools for letting this guy speak on behalf of trump. It's a joke that apparently bombed, based on a recurring issue with the island. He's already got your vote. But for voters on the margins this might turn out to be the knife in the trump campaign. In an election where the margins matter, this is a BFD.And the Progs say, I'll take things that don't matter once again, Alex.
Nope: This is a huge deal. It was trump himself that dropped a hard R in a national address from the Oval. It's a joke that apparently bombed, based on a recurring issue with the island. That doesn't make it "racist", which was the argument above. It makes it a bad joke.

Calling or relating this political gathering/convention to nazis/racism/white nationalism is pretty funny seeing how there are white/black/brown speakers.
Grasping to that has a stench is desperation
Sure the joke was about the trash issue on the island. That’s why so many republicans are desperately trying to walk it back. It's a joke that apparently bombed, based on a recurring issue with the island. That doesn't make it "racist", which was the argument above. It makes it a bad joke.

Maybe the Progs can influence those that would vote for the idiocracy but a bad joke doesn't matter one iota in terms of providing better educational opportunities for the disadvantaged, providing incentives for companies to expand and manufacture in the U.S., the national security implications of our cozy relationship with China, and on and on. Yeah, let's change some votes because someone told a bad joke and ignore that Dems are literally calling half of the population fascist that are voting for Hitler.I never mentioned it was racist but folks will see it that way and they are allowed to make that inference. This specific comedian roasts/insults everybody. Literally. He does it on his podcast. It's his shtick. I prefer Triumph, the insult comic dog.Sure the joke was about the trash issue on the island. That’s why so many republicans are desperately trying to walk it back.
I guess the joke about blacks carving watermelons for Halloween was actually about the deep horticultural traditions of black society in American and the joke about Latinos having a lot of babies and having unprotected sex and equating that to Latinos entering the the country was actually deep social commentary on the role of Catholicism in Latino society.
Not hard to spin, but it’s much too hard for a liberal to comprehend.Theres no way for trump's team to spin this positively.

The MSG rally was totally normal. Nothing to see here. Calling a political opponent evil and the anti-Christ while waving a cross in totally normal. Having a top Trump staffer, whose family fled Belarus and emigrated to the US in the 20th century, say “America is for Americans and Americans only” is a fantastic message. Very “shining city on a hill”. Fits perfectly with Trump’s “poisoning the blood of our country” and “vermin” rhetoric.
the comedians views about America are consistent with trump's:Not hard to spin, but it’s much too hard for a liberal to comprehend.
So what does it say about the choice to have him open up the event? And did I miss him insulting conservatives, white people, Christianity or some other topics that would be provocative for that audience versus dog whistles? This specific comedian roasts/insults everybody. But, trying to make this into a "thing" reeks of desperation.
To everyone who thinks that is an isssue, I talk to four Puerto Ricans every single day of my life. I will ask today. Most would likely laugh. All of them, are sick of this admin, and their immigration policy is considered a tremendous insult to them. All have already voted for trump, went to his rally last week in Dacula, and said we waited two years to get here. We had to earn it. What is happening now is like spitting in the face of those immigrants who earned the right to be here.the comedians views about America are consistent with trump's:
America (which includes PR) is trash.
Not sure how you spin that positively...
So your plan is to ask 4 PRs that already voted for trump their opinion here? I fully expect unbiased answers. To everyone who thinks that is an isssue, I talk to four Puerto Ricans every single day of my life. I will ask today. Most would likely laugh. I love hearing the desperation in this thread. It is refreshing. One desperate lib posted a poll from two months ago. When you can’t find a poll that supports you, and you have to go find an obscure one who swears he gets them all right, your side is in a heap of shit.
Any of libs in the thread watching that ad where Kamala likes being a dictator and f’ing people over should be worried. They called trump Hitler. She reveled in ruining people’s lives with her pen. Right there for the world to see. The never trumpers might want to look in the mirror
He says hes not a Lib , must be some sort of dysphoria.we know
you have been a lib your whole life lol

If it offends them, that is who you want to change their vote right. Why ask the ones already voting for Kamala? Seems like common sense stone. I would bet you can’t find many undecided pr voters. At this point. Seems like asking the ones who voted for Trump if this would have changed anything is your best recourse otherwise. Right? So your plan is to ask 4 PRs that already voted for trump their opinion here? I fully expect unbiased answers.
Go ask undecided PR voters or those that haven't voted yet. Thatd provide better data for us.
“Well I was gonna vote for Trump, then I found out some comedian I have never heard of at a trump rally made a joke that offended me. Now I am voting for Harris”If it offends them, that is who you want to change their vote right. Why ask the ones already voting for Kamala? Seems like common sense stone. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter whether I think it’s a “thing”. It matters if Puerto Rican and Latino voters decide it’s a “thing”, which it appears they already have. Great execution by Team Trump as a closing argument in a close election.
Correct me if I am wrong, but these jokes ( although the setting could most certainly be questioned, in my opinion) but it was done by a roast comedian. Does not change the fact that there were white/brown/black speakers.Sure the joke was about the trash issue on the island. That’s why so many republicans are desperately trying to walk it back.

The real story here is a few stupid jokes during a 10 min set from a comedian.
If I didn’t know any better - after 2 attempts on his life, I’d say there is more than one reason that Kamala and company are accusing him of being a Nazi and a fascist.Maybe Kamala can whip out a bottle of hot sauce at her next event to secure the Latino vote.
I think this video best sums up why this stuff just doesn’t stick. So many people spend so much time searching for any shred of controversy they can pin on Trump and “move the needle”.Correct me if I am wrong, but these jokes ( although the setting could most certainly be questioned, in my opinion) but it was done by a roast comedian. Does not change the fact that there were white/brown/black speakers.
Don't think that would qualify MSNBC to compare this convention/gathering to the Nazi gathering that took place years ago, but that is what the message is being portrayed.
Far Far Far from equal footing.
If I didn’t know any better - after 2 attempts on his life, I’d say there is more than one reason that Kamala and company are accusing him of being a Nazi and a fascist.
1/3 of Manhattan voted Republican, so there are about 4M Repubs there. In deep blue New York! #Wow #MAGA
It certainly seems hypocritical after their calls to reduce the rhetoric...and a long way from "A Campaign of Joy"
Oops...
Nothing magical…..when it comes to safety and wallets, people seem to come around. Pretty sure they’ve/most all have seen enough.1/3 of Manhattan voted Republican, so there are about 4M Repubs there.
If I were advising him, I would not advise him to go to Madison Square Garden, because he is not going to win New York no matter what. But he has done a lot of things. I would not advise, and it seems to be working out for him.
Oh I agree. It has been a trainwreck for Kamala late. All the momentum has been with Trump at the right time.“Well I was gonna vote for Trump, then I found out some comedian I have never heard of at a trump rally made a joke that offended me. Now I am voting for Harris”
Anyone voting on personality or potentially offensive stuff coming from the Trump camp likely voted for Harris the second early voting started. For better or worse the country knows Trump better than any candidate ever. None of this shit sticks late in the game.
Bottom line - whoever is running trump campaign is totally outplaying their counterpart on the other side. McDonald’s, Rogan, and MSG. All highly successful. And honest democrats are admitting that.
This is a mic drop post. Well done.
Exhibit A of her point about Latinos making fun of themselves:
Excellent....fuggin hypocritesI wonder if she still remembers these campaign buttons?
It warms my heart to see you this mad about a massive rally in New York City. I know it was a success now just from your reaction. So what does it say about the choice to have him open up the event? And did I miss him insulting conservatives, white people, Christianity or some other topics that would be provocative for that audience versus dog whistles?

It won’t matter. They already knew Trump will

Use the military against them anyway. And imprison them. Jake Tapper said it.
