is this the Spring '77 box set that you mentioned in your post?

If not, hook me up with a link...I'd be interested in obtaining that set.

Dead

There's an app for phones (GD Shows?) that has tons of shows to stream and because you are only streaming and not downloading you can get all the SBDs. Start with 5-7 - 5-9. All of those could be top 10. There's a betty board of 5-8 which is considered one of the best ever if not the best.

That's it, DFG. Every show is very good. As you may

know after Dick died (Dick's Picks) Dave took over and hasn't missed a beat. In fact the things they now put together are even better than Dick's Picks. If you like the '77 music, this is a must have.

not sure if its the same app but i have one and it is categorized by year and then you can chose the venue. I just typed in grateful dead on the playstore or appstore on my phone. Also relisten.net/grateful-dead/ is a good for your home computer.

It's called "Listen to the Dead" app. It might only be available for iPhones but maybe someone here smarter than I can find out. If you have an iphone I'm happy to walk you through it.

Re: That's it, DFG. Every show is very good. As you may

which format did you download? I want mine on Windows Media player and to transfer to my Droid....the FAQ's didn't really answer that question and I'm not a techno geek.

Thank you KINDLY UJD....

Re: Did you go to those Fox SHOWS right after those ...

That's a dicks picks and I agree, damn good. I like the one from 5/11/72, too. So tight. Playin and Mr. Charlie that bookend are great too. Great dark star. Damn good show.

FLAC ...... ALAC is apple (cult) itunes bullshat - files will be much

larger than MP3s so may not all fit on your phone. Too many of us, FLACs sound better than mp3s unless you use a very high bitrate mp3 format (and flacs still sound better imo if the equipment is good).

I'm old school. Just get the regular CD stuff and play that

in the car and on CD players. Sometimes download the CDs into iTunes if I can get one of my children or grandchildren (no chit) to help me. "still groovin' at 67"

I'll have to get my son, who is in Portland Oregon

working for a computer support (or something) company to help me on that kind of stuff. Most of the time I know what you are talking about BNE. This time I did know WTF you just said.

Oh yea. Great shows. I have everything they have sold

commercially from the band. Dick's Picks, Dave's Picks, Road Trips, etc. Looking very hard for any shows now with jams with ABB particularly with Duane. Looking hard for those.
They continue to release great shows quarterly. I'm on an automatic shipment list for that.

LOL...me either...

if I could buy it already on CD's, that would be the way I'd rock.

I have a hard enough time with the WSP downloads....

If you like Dark Star, check out Dick's Picks #2 or 3 in

Columbus Ohio. Best ever. Total freak out. Jerry rocks in that one.

Re: Love me some Mr. Charlie - one of my faves *

Later in the show they play The Stranger which is such a great song: http://www.dead.net/features/greatest-stories-ever-told/greatest-stories-ever-told-stranger

By the way, Phil's book is real good. All about the music, doesn't get bogged down in the "party scene", and takes the high road on a lot of the band's issues.

same here. I'll put on Panic Steam sometimes while on the

chat, but I still handle CDs better. Like I say. Old school.

If you're talking about the book Phil wrote about 10 years

ago, then yes. It was very good. If you're talking about the one he is writing or just finished about his leaving the band, I haven't read it.

Re: If you're talking about the book Phil wrote about 10 years

I did not realize he had a new one. I'm talking old one. Solid book. Billy has a book coming out. Don't waste your time with Rock's book.

I'm not sure if Phil is actually writing or is going to write one

but there was a long interview with him about a year ago in Rolling Stone. Most was about the schism in the band and how it couldn't be corrected. I guess that's on hold considering to things planned in Chicago this summer.

Hell, Uncle, .......

I bet you had a reel to reel operation going on back in the day. Now that would be old school.

All that was a little before my time, but I remember when reel to reel was an option with the Columbia record club. I bet I sent $5,000 to Terre Haute, IN over the years. When I lived in myFraternity house, we'd order that initial Columbia house windfall of music in someone else's name and get it sent to the house, but you had to get up early and be waiting on the mailman or somebody would beat you to the package and steal it out from under you. I had to tell this GF of mine who flunked out of school to quit writing me letters because folks would open them up and pushpin them on the house bulletin board in the main stairwell. Buncha damn cretins all living together in complete debauchery with absolutely zero common courtesy or respect. I loved it. I thrived. Like that Rob Lowe commercial, I peaked too soon. All been downhill since. At least I'm not flipping burgers.

I had a reel to reel for sure. It was for the apartment. But the

8 tracks and then cassettes were for my ride. Most of my r2r I recorded off vinyl. categorized by the moment. Pot session ...Poco, Moody Blues, ABB, etc.........Grinding or better known as skin sessions...Barry White, Ray Charles, Millie Ripperton, etc...adapt and improvise.

LOL - that was an awesome post ...

Don't see a skin session coming my way tonight unless I pay for it, but I could see the other session with some Moody Blues happening.

That probably will happen if I can get off the damn chat and finish a freaking report on a fiasco of an A Frame in Banks County.
