man, I was thinking that yesterday was the best win of the year... and for about 21 hours, it was.
Getting it done in the 9th with the middle and bottom of the order was HUGE... I know South Carolina had to feel good about where they had us in the order going into the 9th. Mason Meadows was so good last year, you know he has that capability... and then it just took a blooper and some aggressive base running... once we tied it, I had very little doubt that we’d win. Holy smokes that was fun.
And how good was Tony Locey? This was such a frustrating day offensively... from the 1st inning and then we had so many base runners and never could get that big hit. Locey, just like he did against those guys on Friday night last year, he just kept putting up 0’s, kept them where they were.
It’s been 12 years since we started 3-0 in the league, although 2007 ended with a losing record... still, you can’t be better than 3-0 at this stage. Yesterday and today could have gone the other way, but they didn’t... maybe it’ll balance out later this year and maybe not... we can go 13-14 the rest of the way, play sub .500 conference baseball, and still (probably) host a regional. Too soon to think about that? Of course... but that reality is illustrative of the impact of a sweep.
We’ll see better pitching and see a better team next weekend... but it’ll be at home and I’ll sure take my chances there.
What a win. That’s going to be a great bus ride home.
