I like to tell my wife that once football ends, we enter the Dark Ages until late August comes around again. There is a significant difference for me once football ends and it takes a few weeks to get adjusted to not planning your weekend around Georgia games and other big football games. For me, football runs Thursday-Monday for at least 16 straight weeks and then weekends only once the playoffs begin. Damn, what an adjustment afterwards.
With that said, this upcoming week kind of softens the football void. We have March Madness officially starting with kind of the appetizer with conference tournaments. Every night this week you can tune in and watch a smaller conference and see which team punches its ticket to the Big Dance. If the game is moderately close with 10 minutes to go, I'm glued in. Nothing like watching kids achieve a life-long dream. The SEC tournament also begins Wednesday and that's must-watch television this year because just about every team is good. Of course, our Dawgs are finally playing meaningful basketball in March and that rarity is not lost on this 53 year old.
SEC baseball begins for our Dawgs this weekend so add that to the channel surfing come Saturday.
And although this isn't something you literally watch, keep your eye on the ticker as tons of free agents will sign with new teams in the NFL. That always makes for great conversation and storylines. (and people will find ways to blame the Falcons for both signings and non-signings as well as Bobo and Searels....'cause...the Vent)
