in Atlanta, the home course of Bobby Jones as a boy, reminded me of a book I read just recently, “A Golf Story,” by Charles Price. It’s a short book depicting Jones‘ Grand Slam and his founding the Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Invitational Tournament. Anybody who enjoys golf would like this book. Jones was such a popular figure; he was genuinely loved by the American public and in Great Britain as well; he brought the same excitement and massive (for the 1920’s) galleries as Tiger Woods.

He was undoubtedly the greatest player of his era, and many have said he was the greatest of all time, which would be an impossible question to answer. But he was the only man to ever win the Grand Slam, and he had the prettiest swing I have ever seen in golf, so smooth and effortless.
