They were my favorite band at the time and I saw them at the club, Boston Tea Party. It was actually the second Boston Tea Party, summer of 1969. I googled it to see how many people it held, “in 1773 . . .” Thanks a lot google, but I’d guess it held about 400, some in various dark rooms my spidey sense told me to stay out of. I was 16.
Alvin wore what can only be called The Pirate Shirt from Seinfeld. They had a light show made from colored oils, I guess, that didn’t mix. I was amazed that he wore a watch when he played. I was easy to amaze at the time. They rocked. The opening act was Magic Terry and the Universe of which I have no earthly recollection who they were or what they sounded like.
