in September of 1979? It was so exciting to have an all sports channel broadcasting 24 hours a day. Some of the first people hired to broadcast were Lee Leonard, George Grande, Chris Berman, and they had me hooked. I watched whatever ESPN was showing…. Rodeos, Australian rules football, etc, and thought it was the greatest thing in the world. ESPN Sportscenter with Dan Patrick was as good as it gets.
