Clay Hill Obituary

John Clayton Hill, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, March 28, 2025. Clay was born in Camilla, GA on April 10th, 1958 to Ann and Max Hill. He graduated from Worth County High School and went on to receive his Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Georgia in 1980 and his Masters degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern University in 1987. He married the love of his life, Marcy Moore in December of 1980. Clay was a devoted husband, father and adoring grandfather.
Clay, better known as “Coach” served 11 years as the assistant coach and 15 years as the head football coach and athletic director for Crisp County High School. He was the winningest coach in their school’s history. In his later career, he served as the Lower School administrator and assistant football coach at Pinewood Christian Academy. He was then promoted to Head of Schools. After 36 years in education devoting his life to teaching and coaching the youth of his community, Clay retired to Lake Blackshear.
Clay had a zest for life. His passions and hobbies included spending time and boating on Lake Blackshear, watching his favorite sports teams and of course, SEC football. Cheering on all of his grandchildren in their endeavors was a highlight for both him and Marcy. Clay took deep pride in the accomplishments of all three of his children and was always one call a way to provide sage advice or a listening ear.
Clay was a dedicated follower of Christ and is now celebrating with his Lord and Savior. His survivors include his wife of 44 years Marcy Moore Hill, son Wesley Clayton Hill (Hollie), daughter Whitney Hill Brown (Joe) and son Thomas Wade Hill (Kate); grandchildren Hampton and Hayes Hill; Hayden, Bryson, Pendley and Banks Brown; John Henry, Charlie Kate and Caroline Hill. His brothers Walter Kevin Hill and Victor Max Hill and sister, Mary Angela Hill Lord.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 1st, at 4:00PM at Crisp Schools auditorium at 1116 E 24th Avenue. The family will receive guests at a reception immediately following.
