Our maybe just maybe consider this....Imagine a system being put into place that not only discriminates but incentivizes that discrimination in the pursuit of profits. That's what was happening in the 1910 to the 1960 in this country with racist laws being passed against black Americans.....that's a fact. Now of course the America of then is no longer the America of now but many institutions were built on that time period when the open discrimination against black Americans was encouraged.
You can see that in housing where black potential homeowners and farmers were locked out of of both private lending but federal as well. This prevented the black community, as a percentage, being able to upgrade homes and farms increasing their value.

You can see that in policing policies such as cash bails.

And again you can see it in the discriminatory or biased home appraisals that devalue black homes compared to similar white homes.

Again I make the point that millions of black Americans around the country that live in mixed middle class and upper middle class homes are being told by their relator when it's time to have your home appraised to remove photographic evidence that a black family lives there....How crazy is that. And that goes directly back to the 30's and the Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC) and Federal Housing Administration (FHA) creating redlines.
Look now I'm going to put this out there so no one gets my comments twisted...I'm not saying black Americans can't succeed. My community is currently experienced great growth in both influences (entertainment, media, music and fashion) and finances. That being said there are still discriminatory practices happening due in part to these institutions being built on a racist foundation. And when talking upward mobility I always advise your men, black and white, who may be from a poor background to join the military. I've seen every day the amazing success stories that can arise when a country invests in their people and not corporations.
