You know why I like Kirby Smart as our new head coach?

Before I answer that, let me say that when I was born, Johnny Griffith was the HC. And, since I was born in Athens, at old Athens General Hospital when they wrapped the boys in black blankets and the girls in red blankets, I was a Dawg.

I was a Dawg through the Dooley years including that day when we beat Bama 21-0 and Athens went wild, that day when Lindsey Scott ran us to glory, and that night in the Gator Bowl when Coach found a passing game.

I was a Dawg through the Goff and Donnan years. Not always easy... but still, I look damn good in red and black.

I was a Dawg through the day of Glenn Mason.

I was a Dawg through the Richt years when it was easy and when it got hard. I still get chill bumps thinking about that 2002 SEC Championship Game sitting next to David Pollack's family and watching Georgia get its swagger back.

So, you know why I like... hell, love... that Kirby Smart is our new head coach?

Because he's the new head coach of MY Georgia Bulldogs. I love it that he loves MY Georgia Bulldogs and wants to live in the greatest city on the face of the Earth, MY hometown of Athens, Georgia. I love it that he thought enough of UGA to play ball there during some iffy times, get a degree there, marry a Georgia girl.

He may be successful or not. He may be the last coach I'll ever see at Georgia. But, dammit, he's the new coach of MY Georgia Bulldogs and he's got my support.

So, suck on whatever sour grapes you might want because you love the former coach, share his passions or are just one of those many who are afraid of change. As for me...

I AM A GEORGIA BULLDOG.

Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and post something like this... and totally redeem yourself!

Awesome post!

I just hope that Kirby Smart can win a national championship at UGA. The last time they won a national title, it was so long ago that Jan Kemp was still a teacher at UGA.
