Defensive end/5-tech/whatever you want to call it is one of Georgia's biggest needs in the 2024 cycle. Zion Logue, Warren Brinson, Tramel Walthour are all on track to be gone after the 2023 season.

The Bulldogs got that group off the ground this morning with the commitment of Justin Greene. As Blayne mentioned in his thread earlier, Georgia has been the favorite for some time. Even with other officials on deck, Greene went ahead and pulled the trigger this morning.

That's a great start, but plenty of work remains to be done.

Eddrick Houston has been a priority guy the longest. Speaking both with Houston and with sources around Buford, I continue getting the feeling that Ohio State might be the final destination. I believe Houston has his eyes on playing in a 4-3 system, and Ohio State's combination of that and sending guys at that position to the league looks like it will be tough to beat. Georgia will get its shot though this weekend to make a big move.

Williams Nwaneri is a name that could play some of that 5-tech role. Georgia made a major move with him over the weekend and is now one of the favorites there. As this battle continues, there's plenty of confidence that the Bulldogs will give Oklahoma all it wants. Nwaneri could also play some standing up on the edge as well.

Speaking of Georgia and Oklahoma, those seem to be the two battling it out for Joseph Jonah-Ajonye. The Texas prospect called the Bulldogs his dream school when Tray Scott offered him earlier this spring. A visit for the scavenger hunt exceeded Jonah-Ajonye's expectations, vaulting Georgia into strong position. With an official visit looming the last weekend in June (along with high school teammate and fellow top target Justin Williams), I'd say Georgia is also sitting in a very strong position with JJA.

Other names to know include Aydin Breland (OV June 23-25), Marcus Downs (Georgia in his recently-released top 5, still working out an OV) and Jordan Thomas (OV June 9-11). All three of those guys could have the size to play 3-tech as well. Other names could pop up as well, but these same to be the main candidates for one of the most important positions in the 2024 class.
