What would be the your opinion of Reagan or Bush 1 & 2 or even Obama if it were revealed that they had wives that were less than First Lady like in their past. I think the media would just destroy them but yet he seems to get a free pass. I remember the media knock on Scott Walker was that he was not college educated and many wrote him off as unqualified. I'm not sure I've heard Trump's education discussed in the media. Four years ago the GOP darling was Christie but the media made him out to be too loud, bombastic, not having the temperament to be President. Compared to Trump Christie looks like Mother Theresa. What is it about this man that has caused the playing field to shift when it comes to media scrutiny? He is getting the same treatment as Obama in regards to questioning his past and values.

Some of the pundits Sat were saying the evangelicals have different priorities than Christian values this time. It is not their first priority. Anytime you get David Dukes on the same page as Jerry Falwell Jr, something is amiss or going on. But I don't believe he's had the same treatment about his past as Obama did. If Cruz comes on strong soon, he'll bring up Cruz and more birther stuff. I still want to know why it took over 40 yrs for Cruz's dad to become a citizen here, short of Ted started getting into politics. Wouldn't look good if his dad wasn't a citizen.
I saw where Trump is now implying that Rubio might not be eligible because his father was not born in the USA but was born in Cuba??? Was George Washington's father born in the USA? He just throws this stuff out there for media attention and the other candidates have to spend time defending their right to run.

Whether Cruz's dad is a citizen or not shouldn't matter one bit. His father isn't running for office.

Actually, neither were American born. Both are from Cuba, migrated in the 50s, had Marco in 1971, became US citizens in 1975.

The Trump phenomenon can't be explained by logic or studying his platform. He is similar to Barack in 2008 who appealed to emotion and offered hope and change. Trump has a stronger presence and persona than any other contender while Obama had the soaring rhetoric. It is something that the repubs need to learn. Dems have played on the emotions of their supporters forever to win elections and repubs have historically tried to win on logic and platform ideas.
Trump is also similar to Hillary in that there is no way u can tell what they will do if elected. Trump's supporters actually like the fact that he isnt the standard pol who is elected by big money which he rewards during his time in office. Hil has lied about everything and everybody. The Clintons are all about lying to satisfy their lust for power and enriching themselves along the way. Either dem will turn this country into a 3rd world welfare state with their immigration and spending proposals.
Trump is motivated by ego. He doesn't need to enrich himself further and with his ego he sincerely thinks he can "make America Great Again".

No I don't blame you nor fault you for that support. But I think when you get past the surface you'll find the Ted Cruz is the absolute best man for the job. All the personal attacks from Trump, Rubio and the media especially Fox aside. He is principled, and a lover and follower of the Constitution. He has done exactly what the he told the ppl of Texas he said he would. The GOP hate him because he won't play their silly bait and switch games and exposed them as the phony RINO's they are. The Dems hate him because they are scared to death of him, and the Media hate him because he threatens their access.
I understand that reasoning with the MSM, but why are Fox News and the conservative talking heads orgasmic over Trump? Personally I've lost a lot of respect for Hannity, Limbaugh, Cain and a few others for ignoring their core conservative values and letting Trump slide on the issues. Any other candidate they would crucify. They don't come right out and claim support for Trump but they surely do not hold him accountable for his positions on core conservative principles. The excuse I hear is "he has evolved" over the years, but that has never stopped them from destroying others over the years as "flip floppers". They have basically become "anti-establishment" advocates rather than staying true to conservatism. Trump is basically using these guys to propel himself to the nomination.
Some guys like Levin, Erikson and Beck have stayed true to their core beliefs and have exposed Trump for who he is.
I think the majority of pundits at Fox News want Rubio. Limbaugh & O'Reilly are trying to stay neutral. Hannity especially wants someone in there who will shake things up. Trump and Cruz will do that. I have heard Rush praise Cruz profusely. I also think they are tired of electing people who check all the conservative boxes and then lose in the general. Rubio is like a standard politician who will be closer to George W. Bush in philosophy. He is now back tracking on his immigration stance having gotten all the endorsements from mainly establishment pols and big money donors. These endorsements may hurt him rather than help.
There are some who think that the media is holding off on the Trump negativity because they want him to get the nomination. I'm guessing that they think the left has a better chance against Trump than the others. If/when he gets the nomination then the press will turn ugly very quickly. I am sure that they are holding a few surprises.
It makes me very skeptical/nervous of what the media is up to when I see Trump getting a pass on most outlets. If anybody can withstand it though it would be Trump. The Clinton's are corrupt to the core and there is a lot of material for him to use if he needs to divert their attention.
