I read it. So he hopes to isolate China. They are certainly not isolated now. We are isolating ourselves. Lol
Maybe it works out.

This looks like the opposite of isolation.I read it. So he hopes to isolate China. They are certainly not isolated now. We are isolating ourselves. Lol

I don’t know if I believe this post, but to think that other countries will not listen when China speaks is foolish.

They will.
This is why you need to surround yourself with people who will challenge your ideas, rather than sycophants.
What exactly is “winning” looking like? I’d love a clear answer from anyone. Because our stock market has lots trillions, inflation is about to tick up, mortgages are still high, like what are we doing?
Yeah. Trump could easily eff up the entire world order for the next 100 years.
Plans were better when you didn’t just piss off the entire world. I give about a 0% chance of this happening.![]()
U.S. Plans to Use Tariff Negotiations to Isolate China — The Wall Street Journal
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wants trading partners to limit China’s involvement in their economies in exchange for concessions on reciprocal tariffsapple.news
Germany sending billions to Russia for fuel and then billions to Ukraine to fight the evil tyrant is a head scratcher. The EU dealing with China and blocking out the US? These are our "allies"? The left's anger at Trump for placing tariffs on our "allies" is a little misplaced.Imo, most of our trading partners needed a swift but gentle kick in the pants. Now, I'm not saying Trump's tactics were ideal but he did remind everyone that the crown jewel in trade agreements is access to the U.S. market and now we have most every nation coming in for negotiations and China on an island.
Trump scolded Germany for buying fuels from Russia and now he's reminding them, the EU and other friendly nations that they should be allowing U.S. products into their markets freely and buying American when possible instead of selling to us and buying from China and other countries that manipulate currency and quite frankly are enemies of liberty.
If liking or not liking Trump was the deciding factor in dealing with the US…..you would be right. But economic / defense realities exist…..creating leverage. Combine this with the fact that it is universally known that China is a bad actor in trade……Plans were better when you didn’t just piss off the entire world. I give about a 0% chance of this happening.
Not really. Germany dramatically reduced their gas purchases from Russia from like 65% prior to the Ukraine war. It's hard to cut that to 0%, but they buy substantially less than before the war. Something like 10% or so now.Germany sending billions to Russia for fuel and then billions to Ukraine to fight the evil tyrant is a head scratcher. The EU dealing with China and blocking out the US? EU looks to be closing in on a deal with US to buy more LNG from us…..and less from Russia.Germany sending billions to Russia for fuel and then billions to Ukraine to fight the evil tyrant is a head scratcher. He was an asshole in the first term also. Nothing new. Now they are ramping up defense production and reconsidering their green energy policies to buy more from us. A good result….following being pissed about Trump words. Rinse. And repeat. Not really. Germany dramatically reduced their gas purchases from Russia from like 65% prior to the Ukraine war. The EU was our 'ally', but Trump has decidedly broke and trust or goodwill there.
The US is a non-reliable partner now for the next 3.5 years. Untrustworthy and unpredictable. So while China may not be the first choice of our former allies, they represent the best alternative in many instances and much of our former trade will be replaced by China during Trump's term.If liking or not liking Trump was the deciding factor in dealing with the US…..you would be right. World leaders act on behalf of their citizans…..not their like or dislike of Trump. As it should be. It is what makes him an effective negotiator. Leverage is the key. Not popularity.
Let it play out. You can bump when the EU shuns the US in favor of Communist China. I won’t hold my breath. The US is a non-reliable partner now for the next 3.5 years. Untrustworthy and unpredictable. So while China may not be the first choice of our former allies, they represent the best alternative in many instances and much of our former trade will be replaced by China during Trump's term.
They are only importing liquid natural gas from the US, which is still not a significant % of natural gas use.He was an asshole in the first term also. Nothing new. Now they are ramping up defense production and reconsidering their green energy policies to buy more from us. A good result….following being pissed about Trump words. Rinse. And repeat.
Anything that moves the needle towards the US economy and away from Russia / China is a win, no? At worst it represents leverage in the Ukraine discussion w Russia, and trade discussion with China. They are only importing liquid natural gas from the US, which is still not a significant % of natural gas use.
Horse shat. The U.S. terms are clear attainable. Yeah, piglets squeal when the sow knocks them off the teat but that doesn't mean the piglets (even though mad) won't start eating out of spite. The EU and our other luke warm allies know they had a pie in the sky deal before and they know they can still have a great deal if they want one with the U.S.. Iows, no American should be happy that we've been subsidizing their social programs by providing discounted defense, allowing them to restrict our products without returning the favor and dealing with the tyrants that we are paying to keep in check. The US is a non-reliable partner now for the next 3.5 years. Untrustworthy and unpredictable. So while China may not be the first choice of our former allies, they represent the best alternative in many instances and much of our former trade will be replaced by China during Trump's term.
Trump broke their trust and goodwill with us? They depend on us for defense and few ever pay their share. And while we are protecting them from Russia they send billions to the Russians for fuel and put unfair restrictions on our goods. They then raise hell when we want to tariff them back. Not sure who broke the trust but it was broken before 2025.Not really. Germany dramatically reduced their gas purchases from Russia from like 65% prior to the Ukraine war. It's hard to cut that to 0%, but they buy substantially less than before the war. Something like 10% or so now.
