Today, I made the first stop at Duluth High School on my spring practice tour. Here are a few notes on Duluth DB Peyton Dyer, who Georgia is pursuing hard:
- When I talked with Dyer in February, he had just visited Athens for Junior Day and told me he spent some one-on-one time with Kirby Smart. While he hasn’t returned yet, Dyer has an official visit set up with Georgia for May 30.
- Dyer craves contact and making plays on the ball. He revealed that the staff compares him to Kamari Lassiter, who he likes.
- Dyer recently de-committed from South Carolina because of “talks” with the Gamecock staff. It sounded like they didn’t want him taking visits to other schools, despite his recruitment blowing up.
- I’m told that Georgia is in a good position here. The Bulldogs hopped on board the Dyer train about three game into to his junior season and that left a good impression on him. He has great talks with Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson. Smart has also taken a personal interest in Dyer.
- He said a commitment date could be coming after his official visits. He’s also taking official visits to, USC, Penn State, South Carolina, and maybe Tennessee.
